Price range: £175.66 through £259.66Inc. taxEx. VAT: £146.38 – £216.38

The Locinox MAG is a surface-mounted electromagnetic gate lock with integrated handles, designed specifically for outdoor access control applications.

Available with 300kg or 600kg holding force in silver or black, with 12V/24V DC operation and IP68 protection.

Product Overview

The Locinox MAG3000 and MAG6000 combine an electromagnetic gate lock and integrated pull handles in a robust powder-coated aluminium housing. Designed for square gate profiles and posts from 40mm to 80mm, the MAG provides a clean access control solution without requiring a lock box to be welded into the gate.

Both versions are fail open, releasing when electrical power is removed, and use Locinox’s Quick-Fix mounting system for straightforward installation. A special two-layer protective coating and IP68 rating make the range particularly suitable for exposed outdoor gate installations.

Key Benefits

  • Choice of holding force – select 300kg or 600kg depending on the security requirements of the gate.
  • Designed for outdoor gates – IP68 rated with a two-layer protective coating for resistance to water, dust and corrosion.
  • Integrated pull handles – combines the magnetic lock and gate handles into one clean installation.
  • Quick-Fix mounting – avoids the need to weld a separate lock box onto the gate.
  • Fail-open operation – the magnetic lock releases when power is removed.
  • Anti-residual magnetism system – helps ensure the armature releases cleanly when the lock is de-energised.
  • Improved tamper resistance – a raised housing edge makes it difficult to position a crowbar between the magnet and armature plate.
  • 12V or 24V DC operation – provides flexibility when integrating with access control systems.
  • Tested holding force – Locinox states that every magnetic lock has its holding force tested.
  • Built for frequent operation – manufacturer tested to 500,000 cycles.

Typical Applications

  • Pedestrian access control gates
  • Commercial entrance gates
  • School and education entrances
  • Apartment and residential developments
  • Industrial pedestrian gates
  • Controlled-access perimeter gates

Locinox itself shows the MAG3000 used as part of a controlled pedestrian gate installation at a school entrance.

300kg or 600kg – Which Should I Choose?

The MAG3000 provides a minimum 300kg holding force and is suitable for general pedestrian gate access control applications.

The MAG6000 doubles this to a minimum 600kg holding force, making it the better option where greater resistance to forced opening is required.

Both use the same 12V/24V DC supply options and are designed for 40–80mm gate profiles, so the main difference is the required holding force rather than the physical gate profile.

Is This the Right Magnetic Gate Lock for You?

This is ideal if…

  • You need an electromagnetic lock for an outdoor pedestrian gate.
  • You want the lock and pull handles integrated into one unit.
  • Your gate/post profile is between 40mm and 80mm.
  • You have a suitable 12V or 24V DC power supply and access control system.
  • You need either 300kg or 600kg of magnetic holding force.
  • You want a surface-mounted solution without welding in a lock box.

You may need an alternative if…

  • Your application requires the gate to remain locked during a power failure.
  • You don’t require integrated handles.
  • You’re looking for a mechanical rather than electrically controlled gate lock.
  • Your gate profile falls outside the recommended dimensions.

ACS Team Insight

The important thing to understand with the MAG3000 and MAG6000 is that they are fail-open electromagnetic locks. They require power to remain locked, so you should consider how the gate needs to behave during a power failure when designing the access control system.

For installation, Locinox’s Quick-Fix system is a useful advantage because there’s no need to fabricate and weld a separate lock box. Locinox specifies seven drilled holes for the complete installation, with the magnetic lock itself mounted through five Quick-Fix fixing points.

The MAG3000 is generally the starting point, while the MAG6000 is worth considering where the gate requires substantially greater resistance to forced opening. If you’re unsure which holding force is appropriate for the installation, speak to us before ordering.
