The Gatemaster BQDG4060 Superlock Quick Exit is a bolt-on mechanical gate lock designed for communal and controlled-access pedestrian gates where secure entry and simple, rapid exit are required.
Visitors and authorised users enter from the outside using the mechanical digital keypad, while users inside can leave simply by operating the green push pad. Because the lock is entirely mechanical, there is no need for electrical wiring or a power supply, making it particularly useful for standalone pedestrian gates and retrofit installations.
The latest BQDG4060 is reversible handed and can be changed on site to suit either a left or right-hand gate. Gatemaster provides a straightforward process for repositioning the keypad and push pad before installation. (Gatemaster Locks)

Gatemaster lists these components with the current BQDG range. Gatemaster Locks
One of the most useful changes to the latest BQDG4060 is its reversible handing. Older BQDG locks were sold as separate left and right-hand models, which is why you may still see product codes such as BQDG4060L and BQDG4060R in older catalogues.
The current BQDG4060 can be changed on site. Gatemaster’s current procedure involves removing the keypad and push pad, rotating/repositioning the components and refitting them for the required handing.
For gates where someone could potentially reach through or around the gate and operate the internal push pad, Gatemaster offers the BQS Quick Exit Shroud. It bolts in front of the lock to restrict outside access to the push pad.
The BQDG can also be combined with Gatemaster’s Superlock Gapless Keep, Interlocking Keep or Secure Keep where greater protection and a more complete locking arrangement are required.

The big advantage of the new BQDG4060 is that you no longer need to work out whether to order a left or right-hand version before going to site. The handing can be changed during installation, which is particularly useful for installers carrying the lock as van stock or when the exact gate orientation hasn’t been confirmed yet.
For communal gates, we’d also pay attention to whether somebody could reach the green push pad from outside through or around the gate. If that’s possible, the optional BQS security shroud is worth considering because it is specifically designed to restrict access to the push pad from the unsecured side.
